The 2 week torrent.
It took 2 weeks to download the Cryhavoc discography. Yes, I waited that long. Turns out, there would only be one seed per day, and since everyone else was probably not using a slow cell phone to download, I only had about 10 minutes of actual downloading per day. Needless to say, Sweetbriars (1998) is a pretty good starting off point. You can’t NOT love the track “Repent (Whore)”!! Pitch-Black Blues (1999) is a much better produced followup. You can tell they tried very hard to correct their mistakes from the previous album. The vocals are just a lot cleaner and more consistent, guitars have a much more symbiotic relationship than they did in Sweetbriars, the drum mix is much clearer. I can actually hear the bass drum now! Bass isn’t very present, but I can tell it’s there. No biggy.
For any TRUE Melodic Death Metal fan, I totally recommended Cryhavoc. It sounds like one of those bands that may have inspired the greats, even though they came around at the climax of the Melodeath movement.
Trivium - Dusk Dismantled
The Haunted - All Against All
Mr. Devin Townsend
Warrel Dane: The voice of God himself
In Flames - Clad In Shadows ‘99
I want to sing.
I wish I wasn’t such a panzy… for NOT singing enough. My favorite things to sing are…
Nevermore
Protest The Hero
Devin Townsend/Strapping Young Lad
Wintersun (The power metal vocals)
Times Of Grace
Darkane
Scar Symmetry
I’m actually pretty good at doing the more powerful vocals, but I’m just afraid that if I write that stuff into my band’s material, that anyone would laugh. If even one person laughed, I’d never sing again.
Death grunts are a different story, I got that shit in the bag. ;)
Mors Principium Est - Parasites Of Paradise
Arch Enemy - The Beast Of Man [Stigmata]
